C-Murder gets mandatory life sentence for murder

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - AMERICAN rapper C-Murder, born Corey Miller and who is the brother of Master P, is currently facing a mandatory life sentence for murder.

He was on Tuesday (Aug. 11) convicted of second-degree murder for shooting 16-year-old Steve Thomas in 2002 during a nightclub brawl.

In September 2003, Miller was convicted for the same incident. However, Presiding Judge Martha Sassone granted a new trial based on the claim that prosecutors improperly withheld criminal background information on three of their witnesses.

During his music career the rapper was part of the rap group called TRU, which released two albums - ‘True’ in 1995 and ‘Tru 2 da Game’ in 1997 - and was also part of the 504 Boyz.

In 1998 he appeared on Master P's 1998 album Ghetto D and debuted solo with ‘Life or Death’, which topped the Billboard R&B albums chart.

He is known for songs such as ‘Down for My N's’ and ‘Screaming for Vengeance’.
