Nyon ‘Saddam’ Dassent on gun and ammo charges

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FOLLOWING a wanted bulletin for the fourth suspect in connection to the seizure of an illegal firearm and a quantity of ammunition on Saturday (Jan. 19), Nyon ‘Saddam’ Dasent was slapped with two charges.

According to a police communiqué, the New Road resident had turned himself in to the Basseterre Police Station on Monday (Jan. 28) and was charged yesterday with the offences of Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.

The changes stemmed from the discovery of an illegal firearm that was found in a car on Victoria Road on January 19, 2019.

Three others were earlier charged with the same offences. The first was Isaiah Ritchen of East Street, Newtown, and he was followed by Kevin Gaskin and Diondre Browne, both of New Road.

Police in a statement said that at 4:00 a.m. on Jan. 19 during a stop and search operation, officers had stopped a vehicle with four occupants on Victoria Road.

Two of the occupants ran from the vehicle and, while conducting a search, the officers found a Smith and Wesson pistol with five rounds of ammunition under one of the seats.

The statement indicated that the driver of the vehicle and the other occupant were taken into custody.
