Bridgetown- February 1st, 2018 - The Canadian Government funded Improved Access to Justice in the Caribbean (IMPACT Justice) Project will host the first lecture in its new series of public lectures on Women and the Law, with a lecture entitled: Gender and Caribbean Nation Building on February 7th, 2019. This lecture will be held in the Conference Room of the Solid Waste Management Corporation at 7pm.
The lecture will be given by Mr. Rashad Brathwaite, Lecturer at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus and rapporteur will be Ms. Cecilia Babb, Gender Specialist. The Honourable Shawn K. Richards, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth, Sport and Culture will also be in attendance to deliver brief remarks and Professor Velma Newton, Regional Project Director of the IMPACT Justice Project will be the event chairperson.
Professor Velma Newton, has advised that the lecture will include a review of the recently launched St. Kitts and Nevis National Gender Policy and specially invited guests include representatives of government departments and NGOs across St. Kitts and Nevis. After this event, IMPACT Justice will seek to rollout similar lectures in other countries in the OECS, Barbados, Belize, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.
