BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A gun-toting individual launched an attack on two teenage boys earlier today, leaving them nursing gunshot wounds to their lower limbs.

Initial reports received by SKNVibes indicated that a shooting took place in the vicinity of the junction of Fort Thomas Road and Westbourne Ghaut which resulted in one being fatally wounded.

Press and Public Relations Officer to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, Inspector Cromwell Henry confirmed that there was a shooting and both victims are alive.

He explained that, according to the information he received, at about 9:30 this morning (Aug. 16), police officers responded to a report of a shooting at Fort Thomas Road and investigations revealed that Elloni Jeffers (18) and Vance Thomas (17), both of Fort Thomas Road, were the victims of the incident.

According to the injured parties, as explained by Henry, they were on a verandah of a Fort Thomas Road home when a masked man came from across the road, approached them and opened fire. Jeffers was struck in both legs while Thomas sustained injury to his left leg.

They were transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital via a private vehicle where they are warded in stable condition and are receiving treatment.

Inspector Henry said, to date, there have been no arrests in relation to the incident. He asked for those individuals who “would have seen anything or anyone suspicious in the area, or who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 465-2241 ext. 231 or 230 and give the information.”

He reminded that information could be given on condition of anonymity and all information given would be handled with confidentiality.
