Best-A-Dem ‘No Brakes’ party gets good reception

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - BEST-A-DEM (BAD) dance party dubbed ‘No Brakes’ was off to a start last night (Aug. 15)  with a small sized crowd, but as it got later people started showing up and gave the venue a near capacity crowd.

DJs Dangles, Woodis and Sweet Sister Sensia kept the crowd rocking to endless music, At one stage, there was even a section dedicated to some old school R&B and Rap hits played by the Sweet Sister Sensia, who said it is good to change sometimes instead of going to the club to hear the same thing every week-end.

After things got down and dirty on the dance floor with ladies ‘bubbling’ their waist lines and men bouncing here and there,  a number of females had a little brawl which quickly got under control but caused the DJ to calm things down with some lover’s rock and conscience music.

When one young lady was asked what made her went out to party, she said, “I am a big fan of the group so I had to come show my support”. A young man said he is from Cayon, the area from which the group hails, so he too had to be there to show his support.

According to one of BAD’s members, Kesean ‘Hi-Light’ James, “The turnout was alright, with the rain and everything people still come out and show their love and support.”

He said the event was a fund raiser and also for the them to take a break from being in the studio and working on music, because soon it would be non-stop work with all the video projects and singles they have in store for release very soon. “So, it’s like our little summer celebration,” James added.

James also said that after their last party in July, dubbed “See It Dey”, many people were asking for another and so “we definitely had to do it again”.

No brakes came to an end sometime around 5:00 a.m.
