Domestic violence ends in husband’s death, wife stabbed

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A domestic dispute early this morning (Feb. 18) in Basseterre resulted in the death of a young man after he had inflicted multiple stab wounds to his wife’s body.

     

    Dead is Leroy Henry of Upper Malone Avenue, who had reportedly stabbed his wife Unella Henry multiple times, including once to her neck.

    Sources told SKNVibes that the incident occurred shortly after 1:00 a.m. and that a member of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force had shot Henry in an attempt to stop him from slitting his own throat.

    A police communiqué had confirmed Henry’s death and also the stabbing of his wife.

    According to the communiqué, at about 1:30 a.m. police had responded to a dispute between Henry and his wife at Upper Malone Avenue.

    “Preliminary investigations so far have revealed that upon arrival, Police met Leroy Henry attacking Mrs. Henry with a knife. The Police discharged his firearm at Mr. Henry. 

    “Preliminary reports also indicate that Mr. Henry attempted to take his own life with the knife. The Emergency Medical Service was summoned to the scene and Mrs. Henry was transported to the JNF Hospital for medical attention. She sustained stab wounds about the body and a knife wound to her neck,” the communiqué read. 

    It also stated that Mrs. Henry is currently warded in a stable condition and that her husband was pronounced dead at the scene by the District Medical Doctor. 

    The communiqué further stated that an autopsy “will be performed on the body of Mr. Henry to determine the cause of death”.

    Members of the Crime Scene Unit had visited, processed the scene and collected items of evidential value, as.
     
    The police are appealing to anyone who might have any information regarding this incident to contact the Special Victims Unit by dialling 465-2241 ext. 4232/4253, or via cell phone at 665-3091, or by contacting the nearest police station, as investigations are ongoing.
