Two males and two pistols in police custody

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AS the security forces relentlessly continue in their efforts to make St. Kitts and Nevis a safer place to visit and live, two more illegal firearms, a quantity of ammunition and two males were taken into custody yesterday (Feb. 23).

     

    According to a police communiqué, while ranks of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force were conducting a joint patrol yesterday, they heard reports of what appeared to be gunfire close to 7:00 a.m. in the Newtown area. 

    On investigating, the ranks observed two armed, masked were running; both of whom were later apprehended in Ponds Pasture and taken into custody.

    Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.

    However, during a search in the Ponds Pasture area, ranks had discovered “one black mask, along with one Taurus pistol with 11 rounds of 9mm ammunition and one Glock pistol with 13 rounds of .40mm ammunition rounds” on an abandoned premises.

    Members of the Crime Scene Unit had processed the scene and a number of items of evidential value were collected.
     
    Yesterday's discovery has taken to five, the number of illegal firearms taken off the streets of St. Kitts and Nevis.

    As investigations are ongoing, police are appealing to anyone who might have any information regarding this incident to contact the Violent Crime Unit by dialling 467-1887 or 467-1888, 662-3468, or by calling the Crime Hotline at 707.
