Miss Florida Caribbean seeking contestants

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ELIGIBLE young Caribbean women living in the Florida area are invited to compete for the prestigious Miss Florida Caribbean (MFC) title, and the opportunity to represent the Sunshine State at the 2010 Miss Caribbean United States in New York.
     
    The eighth annual evening of pageantry slated for Sunday, November 15, 2009, promises a glamorous and spectacular showcase under the theme “It’s All About Being Green”. Set to begin at 7:00 p.m., it will be held at the Grand Dania Ballroom of the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Airport, located at 1870 Griffin Road, Dania Beach, Florida.
     
    According to a release, the pageant was established as a personal development opportunity to emphasise the beauty, culture and style for young Caribbean-American women between the ages of 18 through 25, living in the State of Florida.  
     
    The participants must be single, never married, or had given birth to a child; must have been born in the Caribbean or of Caribbean origin and reside in the state of Florida for at least six months prior to the competition.
     
    The release further stated that the Miss Florida Caribbean 2009 would represent the Sunshine State at the 2010 Miss Caribbean United States in New York, where she would compete for the chance to represent the United States at the Miss Caraibes Hibiscus International Pageant in St. Maarten.
     
    The winner will be featured in a six-page fashion spread in the spring 2010 issue of Jamaque Magazine and will also receive a trip and cash prize along with other awesome prize packages.
