Police investigating armed robbery; sexual assault

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE are investigating two criminal incidents that occurred over the weekend and are seeking the public’s assistance in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

     

    The first incident occurred sometime after 5:00 p.m. on Friday (Mar. 22) when two masked gunmen entered the Sandy Point home of Andrew Campbell and Oswill Fraser.

    According to a police communiqué, the gunmen had beaten and robbed the two occupants before making good their escape from the home.

    Campbell and Fraser were taken to the hospital, where they were treated for their injuries and discharged.

    The police are urging anyone who might have information regarding this incident to contact the Sandy Point Police Station at 465-6261.

    The second incident involves a female teenager, who police said was sexually assaulted in the Basseterre area.

    The incident took place sometime after 8:00 p.m. on Saturday (Mar. 23).

    According to the police, preliminary reports indicated that the assailant, who was following the teenager, had forced her to a vacant lot of land in the Basseterre area where he assaulted her.

    Investigations into this incident are ongoing and the police are making a special appeal to persons who might have any information regarding it to contact the Special Victims Unit (SVU) by dialling 465-2241 ext. 4252. 

    “The SVU can also be reached via cell phone at 665-3091. You may also contact your nearest police station if you have information that can lead to the apprehension of the perpetrator,” the communiqué read.
