Wrenford Dore
By: Sharlene Martin, SKNVibes

CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – THIS year’s Independence Gospel Concert promises to be a success. This is according to Renford Dore, President of the Nevis Gospel Music Association (NGMA).

Dore told SKNVibes that the country’s most celebrated season is Independence and Christians are supposed to lead the way in patriotism.

“It gives young people a sense of patriotism. This concert gives our local gospel artistes an outlet to expose their talent and it is in keeping with the association’s mandate to nurture and develop local talent.

The president said that this was a good time for the NGMA to put itself in the public’s eye.

Last year’s concert was held at the Eden Brown Church of God and was well attended. Dore said he is looking forward to better that this time around.

The concert is scheduled for September 17 at the Cultural Complex. Local artistes expected to appear are Tricia Morton and Venel Powell, along with the Maranatha Choir, the Micheal Sutton Memorial Choir, Methodist Express, the primary schools steel pan from St. Thomas and Gingerland, the Shekhinah Dance Group and Rhytmz Dance Theatre.

Starting time is 7:30 p.m. and admission is free.
