BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE are seeking the public’s assistance in bringing to justice a man who had sexually assaulted a female in the Basseterre area.
According to a police communiqué, investigations have so far revealed that close to 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday (Mar. 26), an individual had entered the Basseterre premises where the woman was staying and sexually assaulted her.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing and the police are making a special appeal to anyone who might have any information regarding this matter to contact the Special Victims Unit (SVU) by dialling 465-2241 ext. 4252.
“The SVU can also be reached via cell phone at 665-3091. You may also contact your nearest police station or dial the crime hotline at 707 if you have information that can lead to the apprehension of the perpetrator,” the communiqué read.
Only three days earlier a teenager was sexually assaulted in the Basseterre area.
The alleged perpetrator, who hails from Basseterre, was however apprehended and charged on Friday (Mar. 29).
According to a police report, the incident occurred sometime after 8:00 p.m. on Saturday (Mar. 23).
The police stated that preliminary reports had indicated that the assailant, who was following the teenager, had forced her to a vacant lot of land in the Basseterre area where he assaulted her.
