Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 09, 2019 (SKNIS): St. Kitts and Nevis’ Foreign Minister, the Honourable Mark Brantley, has honoured four honorary consuls and a high commissioner, who have given yeoman service in representing the foreign interests of the Federation internationally, and who have gone to the great beyond since the last Diplomatic Week in 2016.

Giving welcome remarks at the Opening Ceremony of Diplomatic Week 2019 at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort on April 9, 2019, Minister Brantley, who is also the Premier of Nevis, asked attendees at the opening ceremony “to stand to observe one minute’s silence in memory of their service in their respective diplomatic or consular sphere of duty.”

The Federation’s chief diplomat recognized the deceased: His Excellency Cedric L. Harper, St. Kitts and Nevis’ High Commissioner to Jamaica; Mr. Reginald Amory, Honorary Consul for Austria in St. Kitts and Nevis; Mr. Peter Ahner, Honorary Consul for St. Kitts and Nevis in Germany; Dr. Winston Isaac, Honorary Consul for St. Kitts and Nevis in Toronto, Canada; and Mr. Jacques Cramer, Honorary Consul for Israel in St. Kitts and Nevis.

The 4th Diplomatic Week in the history of St. Kitts and Nevis is being observed under the theme “Securing a Resilient Future through Strategic Diplomacy and Effective Dialogue”.

Diplomatic Week began in 2007 under Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, who was Minister of Foreign Affairs. Since then, the country has held Diplomatic Week in 2008, 2016 and 2019.
