BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LESS than two weeks after a firearm was found at his residence, Kassim Liburd was sentenced to reside at Her Majesty’s Prison for a number of years.
Sometime last week, the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, through its Press and Public Relations Office, informed that District ‘B’ Police executed a search warrant at Liburd’s home and found a .25 pistol and 10 rounds of ammunition.
The gun, ammunition and Liburd along with two other occupants of the house, Dean Fredericks and Jevon Liburd, were taken into police custody and the three of them were charged with “possession of illegal items”.
A subsequent press release informs that Liburd appeared before the District ‘B’ Magistrate Court, Sandy Point on Tuesday, August 19 to answer to the charges of “possession of a firearm” and “possession of ammunition”. He was convicted on both counts and sentenced to three years each which are to run concurrently. The release however does not indicate whether or not Liburd’s accomplices have or are scheduled to appear before the court.
