BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ELMOTH RAWLINS, the man who shot Dijourn Richardson of Buckley’s Village whom he reportedly suspected to be an intruder of his Old Road home, was on Thursday (Apr. 18) charged with two offences.
According to a police communiqué, Rawlins was charged with Attempted Murder and Wounding with Intent.
A previous police communiqué had informed that preliminary investigations revealed that at about 7:00 a.m. on Monday (Apr. 15) while Rawlins was at his Old Road Home, he heard someone entering through the kitchen door and he fired a single shot with his licenced firearm in the person’s direction.
Reportedly, Richardson was the person who had entered through the kitchen door and was shot in the neck.
Police further reported that Richardson, along with his stepfather, had previously been doing electrical work on the said premises.
He was transported to the JNF General Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and was warded in a critical condition.
Rawlins and his licenced firearm were subsequently taken into police custody.
