ST. GEORGES – THE curtains came down on Grenada’s Spicemas last Saturday (Aug. 15) with a special end of carnival concert on the Carenage in St. George.

The Carnival, which was to conclude with the official Parade of the Bands on Tuesday, August 11, was rescheduled due to unfavourable conditions.

The Parade of the Bands preceded the special concert and was held from 1:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in all parishes following consultation between the Grenada Carnival Committee and the government for the declaration of a “National half holiday”.

Spicemas, the official name of Grenada’s Carnival, was held under the theme “It’s all about the rhythm, the tempo, the beat that makes Spicemas the hottest fete in the Caribbean”.

The carnival had featured a number of activities including the Queen Show, which was won by the Green’s Auto-sponsored Renee Marquez. Shenelle Commissiong, who was sponsored by Viking Engineering, took the First Runner-up position while Rholda Mc Vean won the Second Runner-up spot. She was sponsored by the Hon. Michael Church.
