Pedestrian wounds driver in traffic accident

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A traffic accident in Basseterre on Saturday, last (Apr. 27), resulted in juries to two pedestrian and the driver of a motorcar.

    According to a police report, the accident occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. in College Street Ghaut and involved motorcar P353, which is owned and was driven by Denzil Miller of Buckley’s, and two pedestrians.

    The pedestrians are Ezekiel France of Upper Monkey Hill and Dorsel Smith of Shadwell Housing.

    Investigations revealed that Miller was driving in a northern direction along College Street Ghaut and, while  in the vicinity of Upper College Street, he had struck Smith.

    As a result of the accident, France attacked Miller with a broken bottle and wounded him to his face and chest.

    France also sustained injuries to his hand during the attack, while Smith sustained injuries to her head, back and shoulder.

    All three of them were taken to the JNF General Hospital, where Smith and Miller remain warded in stable condition, while France was treated and discharged.

    France was subsequently arrested on suspicion of Wounding with Intent.

    Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
