CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS, May 12, 2019 (DBSKN) -- The Under-17 team of the Nevis-based Bath United Football Club has sailed into the semi-finals of the 2nd Willful Skillful Sports Club 17-and-Under Football Tournament currently taking place at the Kay Hill Football Stadium in Dutch St. Maarten.
The team, which had arrived in St. Maarten at around 11:00 pm on Friday on a flight from Nevis, took to the field at 6:00 pm against the defending champions Soualiga FC of the Dutch St. Maarten and held them to a 0-0 draw. Despite their not having had enough time to rest, the gallant boys from Bath in Nevis defied their opponent’s home advantage to share the spoils and earn a valuable point.
Yesterday, Saturday, at 6:15 pm Bath United played against St. Louis Stars from the French St. Martin and the boys from Bath came out victorious with a convincing 4-2 win. Goals were scored by Dejal Myers, Jahmaine Bartlette, Theon Quessley, and Kenaicy Dorsett. That superb win took them to semi-finals that will be played today (Sunday).
The first semi-final at 4:00 pm will feature the defending champions Soualiga FC coming up against Junior Stars also of Dutch Maarten, while Bath United FC will feature in the second semi-final at 5:30 pm where they will come up against St. Thomas Trinity Strikers of sister-island St. Kitts, who had yesterday (Saturday) beaten SKB Willful Skillful of Dutch Maarten 2-1.
According to Bath United FC’s Head Coach Mr Alex Claxton, the boys are in top shape and are hoping to win their semi-final game this afternoon.
Third place game will take place at 6:45 pm this evening, while the finals will be played at 7:30 pm.
