Local Gospel artiste to perform at Jesus Party 2K9

By: Suelika N. Creque, SKNVibes
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – EUGENE JERVIN VANTERPOOL, a.k.a. Min. L.K, will be performing at a grand gospel event in Antigua on Friday, August 28.

Vanterpool will travel to Antigua today (Aug. 23) where he will participate in a number of activities that precede the concert, which are all organised by the Kingdom Soundz System.

The concert will feature a number of artistes from around the Caribbean including Ryan Mark and Omari of Jamaica, Kirklan McKay, Living Fyah and Jasper of Antigua, and Emrand Henry of St. Lucia.

Vanterpool told SKNVibes PEP that he became close friends with DJ Bless of Kingdom Soundz, who earlier this year told him that he wanted him to be a part of the event.
“I feel great to represent St. Kitts at this major event, which also includes other Caribbean gospel artistes,” he said.

He said that the purpose of the event is to magnify the Christian youth society because society is also made up of positive youth who do positive things for Christ.

The event is dubbed “Let Ya Light Shine” and following a media launch on August 15 and a promotional outreach on August 22, a special church service will be held today at the Beacon Light Church of the Nazerene.

Tomorrow (Aug. 24), an event called “Lockdown” will take place while the highlight - Jesus Party 2K9 - will take place on Friday, August 28.

Vanterpool said he is also looking forward to the ‘In Ya Face’ event which is a Bolans outreach and Mini Concert.

“Bolans is one of the gang-infested areas in Antigua. I’m looking forward to it because it is an opportunity for me to speak to young people and help steer them in the right way.

“Positive living begins with positive thinking and I am going to try and show them that Jesus Christ died for them and no matter how bad they think they are Christ can change them,” he said.

Other performers for Jesus Party 2K9 include Movement 4 Jesus, Pure Life, Chain Breakers, Christ Family, Pastor Jahmeel Lee and DJ Lennox.

Vanterpool was born on April 10, 1982 and grew up in a small ghetto called Mc Knight.

He started singing at the tender age of seven but never took it serious until he got saved at age 15 at a Christian youth camp. He was however unfortunately drawn back into the pleasures of the world.

Even though L.K was not as focused as he should have been with the things of God, he always knew that the Lord had a calling on his life. After a few years out in the spiritual wilderness, Vanterpool, like the Prodigal Son, regained his senses, got up, and went back to the throne of Grace.

He recommitted his life and got baptised in 1999 and since then has been on the fire line for the Most High.

He is an active member of the Antioch Baptist Church and a former member of a gospel group called Fire Within.

He has ministered on stage with some of the biggest artiste to date, both secular and Christian, including Wyclef Jean, Beres Hammond, Luciano, Angie Stone, Isaac Blackman, D.J Nicholas, Pepper Ranks and Pappa San.

He has also been featured on the MTV Tempo launch with local artiste Pepper Ranks.

He ministers in both song and dance, and is also a psalmist.

He is presently a member of Gospel Artiste Production (GAP), which promotes gospel artistes from St. Kitts.

GAP is owned by Zetta Henry and has been around for two years.

“No matter what the devil sends your way, look him straight in the face and tell him, "You know who we praise, Jesus! Because He is able and willing to see you through any situation,” Vanterpool said.
