    Conaree FC makes final six

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FOLLOWING a court matter, the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) has decided to reinstate the points that were deducted from SOL Island Auto Conaree FC.

SKNVibes understands that the points were returned on Friday (May 24), the eve of the final round of games in the Premier League.

As earlier reported by this publication, the team was sanctioned following a stabbing incident in April that involved one of its players and a member of RAMS Village Superstars FC.

Police, in a media statement, said that Glenroy Samuel of Conaree had allegedly stabbed Raheem Francis on April 20 after he left the locker room following a game at the Warner Park Football Stadium.

Consequently, Samuel was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder and was subsequently bailed in the sum of EC$50,000 with a number of conditions applied.

In an updated statement issued on yesterday (May 25), the SKNFA noted that the points were returned following a court ruling handed down on the previous day.

“The 24 points deduced from SOL IAS Conaree F.C. have been restored due to a court ruling handed down on Friday, May 24, 2109. The St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) in a letter to the Secretary of the Conaree F.C. on Friday said: ‘Pursuant to the interim order of the High Court of May 24, 2019 in claim number SKBHCV2019/0138 between SOL IAS Conaree Football Club and Delwayne Delaney (applicants) and the St. Kitts Nevis Football Association (Respondent), please be advised that the 24 points deducted from your club as per letter of 23 April  2019 have now been restored, pending the outcome of the substantive High Court matter between the parties.’ Based on that decision, the club now sits in 5th position in the Premier League Standing,” the statement read.

The local governing body for the sport condemned in strong terms the incident.

The body, in a statement after the incident, said: “The sport of football is a game, which is aimed at promoting the principles of respect and fair play while bringing together people from various religious, ethnic, social, political and other backgrounds.”

SKNVibes understands that the Executive Committee met yesterday with a view of deciding where the Association goes with the Conaree situation in light of them now making the final six.
