Five CPL games heading for Warner Park in September

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ST. KITTS AND NEVIS will again play host to five games in the Caribbean Premier League when the season bowls off in September.

The organisers on Tuesday (May 28) released the full schedule of games for the late season tournament.

Playing their first home game at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium, the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots will go up against the Jamaica Tallawahs on September 10, and the Barbados Tridents on the following evening.

Three days later (Sept. 14), they will take on the Guyana Amazon Warriors before battling with the St. Lucia Stars on September 15 and closing off on September 17 against the defending champions, Trinibago Knight Riders.

Prior to those home games, the Patriots will kick off this year’s tournament against the Knight Riders in Port-of-Spain before travelling to Georgetown, Guyana to play the Guyana Amazon Warriors at a venue to be determined.

The Patriots franchise recently completed the squad for this year’s tournament with the selection of Isuru Udana, Fabian Allen, Laurie Evans, Devon Thomas, Rayad Emrit, Shamarah Brooks, Jeremiah Louie, Dominic Drakes, Afif Hossain, Keron Cottoy, Akeem Jordan and Usama Mir.

Also in the line-up are Aaron Jones, Evin Lewis, Carlos Braithwaite, Rassie Van Der Dussen and Sheldon Cottrell.

The local franchise will start this season under new ownership, after Uday Nyak sold the team to the City Sports, a Honk Kong-based group.

At a media conference in February, Sushil Kumar noted that the company has been looking into opportunities to expand their brand beyond Hong Kong.

Kumar emphasised that they were happy when the opportunity of St. Kitts and Nevis presented itself.

“… we happily took the opportunity and I thank Dr. Nayak and his team for having laid a wonderful foundation for the team here, and we’re happy to take this forward to the next level.”
