BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Newtown man, Purcell Sylvester Hope, alias ‘Peter’, for whom police had issued a wanted bulletin, was arrested on Tuesday (May 28).
Police on Friday (May 24) had issued a wanted bulletin for the arrest of the 66-year-old Hope in connection with a wounding incident that took place at the Independence Square on Friday (May 17).
In a previous communiqué, on the afternoon of the day in question, officers at the Basseterre Police Station had responded to a report of a wounding incident in the vicinity of Independence Square.
Preliminary investigations revealed that someone had stabbed Chad V. Seaton of Harbour View, Bird Rock with a sharp object from the rear in his upper left chest area.
Seaton was transported to the Joseph N France General Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.
Following Hope’s arrest the police, in a press release, said: “The police extends appreciation to the media for assisting in disseminating the information and to the general public for their assistance.”
