The St. Kitts Agro-Processors Co-Operative to host a Sorrel Festival June 26th and 29th 2019

By: (SKAP), Press Release

June 19th, 2019 -- The St. Kitts Agro-Processors (SKAP) Co- Operative Society Ltd. will be hosting its first annual Sorrel Festival to showcase and celebrate the many products that can be made with sorrel.

Sorrel has been and continues to be a favorite flower used in the making of drinks, jams and wines for decades within the Federation.

At SKAP we believe this perennial herb has much potential beyond it’s current use, as a result we have created the blueprint for what would become our first annual sorrel market festival.

Our goal is to create a platform for value added products produced within St. Kitts Nevis to take the spotlight.

Though SKAP is hosting the Sorrel Festival we have opened up registration for local producers who wish to participate. We have proverbially thrown out the challenge to local processors and producers to push the creative envelop and craft innovative sorrel recipes and ideas for food and other uses.

The upcoming SKAP Sorrel Festival aims to highlight the many uses of our local sorrel and introduce the public and visitors to the many talented agro-processors of SKN.

The sorrel festival will take place during the week of Music Festival on Wednesday, June 26th and Saturday, June 29th from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Pond Road just pass the Newtown Football Field.

Interested processors/vendors should register by June 22nd to reserve a table, chair, and tent space. To register, please call 765-7502 or email us at skagroprocessors@gmail.com.

For more information, please contact SKAP President, Mr. Jermine Mike at 665-8344.
