BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A strong message was sent out to all rapists and would-be rapists that the long arm of the law is there to protect women and girls in the twin-island Federation, as two men were on Tuesday (Jun. 18) sentenced to serve a combined 18-year period at Her Majesty’s Prison.
According to a police press release, Montana Mathias and Royston Browne, who were jointly charged with Rape on December 13, 2016, were convicted for the offence on December 13, 2016 and were in prison awaiting their sentence hearing.
The offence was committed on November 3, 2016.
Mathias was sentenced to 10 years and Browne eight years, with the time they spent on remand applied.
