BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE death of 85-year-old Elva York of Bouryeaux is now being treated as a homicide, as an autopsy concluded that she died as a result of asphyxia due to manual strangulation.
The autopsy was performed by Forensic Pathologist, Dr. Valery Alexandrov on Sunday (Jun. 23).
According to a police communiqué, an investigation into the matter is ongoing.
Police had earlier reported that at about 6:30 p.m. on Monday (Jun. 17), a neighbour had contacted the police after attempts to contact York had failed.
Upon arrival at the elderly woman’s, police had observed her motionless body lying on the kitchen floor.
The District Medical Officer was summoned to the scene and, on examination of the body, pronounced her dead.
This publication had received reports that York was found bound on her kitchen floor, but this information was not confirmed by the police.
