BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – OUTSTANDING students of the Americas are encouraged to apply for the 2009 incarnation of the Organisation of American States (OAS)-Universidad de los Andes Scholarships.
According to a release from the OAS’ Department of Human Development, the scholarship package would cover doctoral programmes in Business Administration, Anthropology, Biology, Physics, Mathematics, History, Engineering and Psychology. The Universidad de los Andes is a private, non-sectarian university with campuses in the Latin American countries of Colombia, Chile and Venezuela.
The application schedule will run from late August to November 10. Successful candidates will be notified within two months and would matriculate to the Bogota Campus (Colombia) in January 2010.
The release outlined a number of requirements persons would have to meet in order to qualify for the scholarship package. It further stated that if persons did not fulfil all requirements, they would have to reimburse.
“Applicants should be nationals or permanent residents of an OAS member state, and should already have been granted admission to any of the doctorate programmes mentioned in this agreement at the Universidad de los Andes.”
It added, “Successful applicants must sign a commitment agreement to return to one of the ember states or to render service in an international organisation upon completion of studies. This agreement will establish a refund of the total scholarship amount in case the grantee does not comply with this requirement.”
