One killed in family dispute

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE in Basseterre are investigating a stabbing incident in the Newtown area that has left one man dead.

     

    Reports reaching this publication state that the incident occurred evening (Jul. 2) and the dead man’s name was given as Devis Manners.

    SKNVibes understands that the deceased was involved in an altercation with a family member, who allegedly stabbed him in his Newtown home.

    According to a police press release, they received a report of a wounding at approximately 8:00 p.m. yesterday, and, on responding officers found the body of the 58-year-old lying motionless in his home with multiply stab wounds. 
     
    The District Medical Examiner was summoned to the scene and pronounced him dead. 
     
    Personnel from the Forensic Unit processed the scene and took items of evidential value into custody.
     
    One person is in custody assisting police with their investigation into the incident. 
     
    Manners’ death has taken to 13 the number of homicides committed in the Federation for this year.
