Newtown man charged for killing Manners

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE have arrested and charged Ira Maynard of Pitcairn Street, Newtown with murder.

    He was charged for allegedly stabbing Devis Manners to death in his Pitcairn Street, Newtown home on Tuesday (Jul. 2).

    According to a police communiqué, at approximately 8:00 p.m. on the day in question, officers had received a report of a wounding incident in the Newtown area.

    On response, the officers had found the body of 58-year-old Manners lying motionless in his home with multiply stab wounds. 

    The District Medical Examiner was summoned to the scene and had pronounced him dead. 

    Police had reported that one person was taken into custody to assist them with their investigation into the incident.

    Reports reaching SKNVibes at that time stated that Manners was allegedly stabbed by a close relative during an altercation.

    Meanwhile, a police communiqué stated that on Friday (Jul. 5), autopsy was performed on Manners’ body by Resident Pathologist, Dr. Adrian Nunez-Quintana), who determined that he died as a result of Haemorrhagic Shock due to a stab wound to the chest.

    Manners’ death had taken to 13 the number of homicides committed in the Federation for this year.
