Roadtown, Tortola - Chief of Drug and Pharmaceutical Services Ms. Gracia Wheatley has returned from the annual conference of the Caribbean Association of Pharmacists (CAP) where she took part in a number of activities while, at the same time, seeking to discover new ways in which the Virgin Islands can benefit from regional initiatives.

Discussions were held with head of the OECS Pharmaceutical Procurement Service (OECS/PPS) Mr. Francis Burnett on how the Virgin Islands can access services provided by the Caribbean Poison Information Network (CARPIN), among other things.
She also used the opportunity to discuss plans for an upcoming workshop that will focus on counterfeit drugs, here in the Virgin Islands next month.

During the August 10-15 conference Ms. Wheatley moderated several lectures.

She was also appointed CAP Liaison Officer in the Virgin Islands. In that capacity she will ensure that all members of CAP are kept informed on the association’s activities outside of its midterm and annual meetings. Pharmacists from several Caribbean countries were in attendance at the conference, which was held under the theme ‘Managing Partnerships in Health Care: Better Together”, at the Fort Young Hotel in Roseau, Dominica.

The Ministry of Health and Social Development aspires to provide leadership that promotes health, social wellbeing, and a safe environment as positive resources for living and sustainable development of the Virgin Islands.
