BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE St. Kitts-Nevis National Under-20 Girls on Monday night (Jul. 15) in Basseterre continued their winning streak in the CONCACAF Qualifiers.
Playing at the Warner Park Football Stadium, the junior Sugar Girls made light work of their Grenadian counterparts in a 3-1 victory.
The Grenadians drew first blood with Sheranda Charles finding the back of the net in the 10th minute, but her effort was short-lived as Zonia Marshall struck a double in the 36th and 43rd minutes to put St. Kitts and Nevis on top heading into the half time break.
Four minutes into the second half saw the junior Sugar Girls gaining an unassailable lead as an own goal added to the visitor’s misery.
That win followed the opening 3-0 victory the team recorded on Saturday against Anguilla.
In that game, Ellie Stokes netted a double in the 16th and 79th minutes, while Iyanla Bailey-Williams registered one of her own in the 52nd minute.
Meanwhile, Barbados also recorded two wins from two games when the young ladies disposed of Anguilla 2-0 with Tiana Bynoe scoring in the 62nd minute and Marissa King in the 77th.
Playing against St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the Bajan girls were again victorious with Felicia Jarvis scoring a double in the 34th and 75th minutes.
Action continues today with Grenada taking on Barbados from 4:30 p.m., while Anguilla will go up against St. Vincent and the Grenadines at 7:00 p.m.
