BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AFTER months of rumours and speculations, the Government late this afternoon (Jul. 25) has confirmed that the Federation’s Top Cop has tendered his resignation and is taking up a post in Morocco.

In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Press Assistant, it informed that Queeley “has formally tendered his letter of retirement from the Police Services after nearly 35 years”.

The statement also said that Queeley “was selected to represent the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) in Rabat, Morocco as its first Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco”.

It quoted the Minister of National Security, Dr. Timothy Harris, as saying that he was pleased to see “a son of the soil with whom I have worked so closely over the last 4 plus years elevated to the high office of Ambassador, not only of St. Kitts and Nevis but of the Independent Member States of the OECS as our first Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco”.

Queeley was on vacation since 2018 and many people were of the view that he was not likely to return to the post of Commissioner of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force.

However, several months ago, it was revealed that he would be sent to Morocco to as an Ambassador.

According to the statement, Dr. Harris proposed had Queeley to the OECS Authority “as a fit and capable candidate for appointment to the post of Ambassador after the OECS Authority had decided to extend formal collective diplomatic relations to the African continent with the opening of Embassies in Rabat and Addis Abba. Mr. Queeley’s candidacy was subsequently accepted by the OECS Authority”.
