BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – COMPETING in the CFU Girls Under 14 Challenge Series yesterday (Aug. 5) at the Warner Park Football Stadium, St. Kitts and Nevis were edged out 4-3 by St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).

St. Kitts and Nevis drew first blood when Jahzara Claxton found the back of the net in the 4th minute and her teammate, Sharema Blake, followed suit eight minutes later.

Not to be outdone, the SVG girls got their first goal off the boot of Shakey Kydd in the 32nd minute as the first half saw St. Kitts and Nevis leading 2-1.

Seven minutes into the second half, Kydd struck again to level the score and her teammate, Areka Hooper, netted one in the 65th minute to take the lead.

That kead was however short-lived as a brilliant shot from Claxton in the 67th minute saw the two teams deadlocked at 3-all.

Both teams continued to battle for superiority, but in the end it was the visitors who took the three points after Hooper scored her second goal in the 70th minute.

Meanwhile, in the first game of the day, Antigua and Barbuda thrashed Dominica 6- nil.
