CPL terminates St. Lucia Stars Franchise

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ORGANIZERS of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) have terminated the St. Lucia Stars Franchise with immediate effect.

In a statement issued Saturday afternoon (Aug. 10), CPL said that on August 7, 2019 it has terminated the participation agreement between itself and Royal Sports Club, LLC, the entity that operated the St. Lucia Stars franchise.

As a result of the termination, Royal Sports Club, LLC no longer has the right to operate a team to compete in the Caribbean Premier League tournament, and the St. Lucia Stars will not be participating in the 2019 Caribbean Premier League, which begins on September 4, 2019.

According to the statement, CPL Limited is in the process of establishing and operating a new franchise to be based in St. Lucia that would participate in the 2019 Caribbean Premier League.

CPL offered no details for the sudden decision to terminate the agreement with the Royal Sports Club, LLC.

Instead, the organizers pointed out that more information about the new franchise would follow in due course.

“CPL Limited will be making no further public comment at this time,” the statement read.
