BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DESPITE losing their first match (3-4) to St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) in the CFU Girls Under 14 Challenge Series, the Federation’s girls rebounded to record two successive victories.

In their second match, played at the Warner Park Football Stadium on Wednesday (Aug. 7), the Sugar Girls hammered Dominica 8-nil with five of them coming off the boot of Jahzara Claxton.

Sharema Blake opened St. Kitts and Nevis’ account in the 9th minute and Claxton doubled the score in the 13th.

Three minutes later, Blake added the third goal, while Claxton increased the score to 4-nil in the 18th minute.

Blake struck again in the 22nd minute and Claxton closed off the Dominican girls with a hat trick in the 41st, 44th and 66th minutes.

Meanwhile, in the double header, SVG edged Antigua and Barbuda 2-1 with Shakira Kydd and Areka Hooper scoring in the 13th and 17th minutes respectively, while Ozra Roberts 44th minute strike was the only bright spot for the Antiguans.

Playing at the same venue last Friday, Claxton was once again the shining star for St. Kitts and Nevis.

She netted a helmet trick in the 2nd, 10th, 5oth and 57th minutes to secure a 4-2 victory over Antigua and Barbuda.

Scoring for the losers was Gabriella Desuza in the 66th minute, while their first was a SKN own goal in the 33rd minute.

Meanwhile, in the first of the double header, SVG demolished Dominica 6-nil.

Showing her consistency in finding the back of the net, Areka Hooper scored five goals in the 11th, 38th, 55th, 68th and 70th minutes, while Leona Barrow netted in the 48th minute.
