Sugar Boyz to battle with Antigua and Barbuda in friendly tonight

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE national men’s senior team will lock horns with Antigua and Barbuda in two international friendlies, as they prepare to begin their quest in the CONCACAF Nations League.

Action for the first friendly begins at 7 o’clock this evening (Aug. 25) at the Warner Park Football Stadium.

General Secretary of the St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association (SKNFA), Stanley Jacobs said that preparation for the Nations League is moving into top gear with the matches.

The two encounters will be a good test for the national team as they are grouped with French Guiana, Grenada and Belize.

“St. Kitts and Nevis is scheduled to play in Group B of the 2019 Nations League. The first match kicks off away in Grenada on September 5, and the Sugar Boyz will return home on September 8 to play French Guiana.

“The rest of the schedule for the Nations League is as follows: October 10 at home verses Belize; October 13 away in Belize; November 14 at home to Grenada; and November 17 the Sugar Boyz play their final match in French Guiana,” noted Jacobs.

The General Secretary said he anticipates that the new format of competition would be exciting for football in the Federation with the three home and away matches.

“It is an extremely tough group, but we believe that the Sugar Boyz will do extremely well,” he added.

The second friendly will be played at the same venue from 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 27).
