By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WITH Tropical Storm Dorian churning towards the Caribbean, preparations are being made in the Windward Islands for its impact.

In its morning update, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said that Dorian is expected to bring tropical storm condition to portions of the Lesser Antilles tonight (Aug. 26) and tomorrow, where Tropical Storm Watches and Warnings are in effect.

The NHC warned that hurricane conditions are also possible in portions of the Windward Islands, and that Hurricane Watch was issued for St. Lucia.

Forecaster predicted that Dorian would produce three to eight inches of rainfall from Martinique to St. Vincent, including Barbados with isolated totals as high as 10 inches in portions of the Windward Islands.

On the storm front, NHC said Tropical Storm Dorian is located 12.3N and 57.7W, about 135 miles East Southeast of Barbados and 245 miles East Southeast of St. Lucia.

On the forecast track, the center of Dorian is expected to be near the Windward Islands late today and tonight, and it would move into the Eastern Caribbean Sea tomorrow.

Dorian is expected to pass near or south of Puerto Rico on Wednesday and approach Eastern Hispaniola by Wednesday night.

It has maximum sustained winds of 60 MPH and its present movement is West Northwest at 14 MPH.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Dominica, Grenada and it dependencies, Saba and St. Eustatius.
