Friday 30th August 2019 – St. John, Antigua -- Digicel is pleased to announce that it has reached an amicable agreement with the Government of Antigua & Barbuda in regard to the provision of future spectrum arrangements to enhance telephony and Internet services in the country.
Digicel welcomes this positive engagement and believes this signals a new era of constructive relations with the Government and will benefit citizens, businesses as well as the Government and Government services in Antigua & Barbuda. We welcome particularly the automatic continuity of our licenses beyond 2021. This will allow us to invest further to bring world class services to the people of Antigua & Barbuda.
It has always been Digicel’s policy that relationships are built on mutual confidence, trust and on consultation. When we see problems our business ethic is to find constructive and imaginative solutions. This has been the case here in Antigua & Barbuda.
In working together and with direct dialogue with the Government, both Government and Digicel have found a mutually satisfactory way forward.
We appreciate greatly the role of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Information, Broadcasting, Telecommunications & Information Technology and the Minister for Public Utilities, Civil Aviation & Transportation for their availability over the last number of months and assisting us in reaching this agreement.
