BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ORGANISERS of the Latin Festival have announced the lineup for the 2019 event, and some of the region’s top English and Latin performers will grace the stage in St. Kitts.
Among the performers are Pressure Busspipe, Joe Versas and Marucci.
Speaking recently at a media conference, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Jose Rosa said that the 2019 event would focus on the 10th anniversary of the festival, acknowledging that it has been a very long road to reach the 10-year mark.
He said that based on the origin, they are going back to the roots of it being the Latin Fiesta – the first name of the event.
The Chairman revealed that the festival committee spends over $500,000 on the event annual and some of that money is circulated in the economy.
“Besides the artistes, a good amount of the money is invested here in the country in different businesses.”
Rosa acknowledged that they would need to go a bit deeper to fully understand the economic impact of the festival on the Federation.
In commending Rosa and his team for staging the event, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Carlene Henry-Morton, said she is expecting an inflow of visitors from the Federation’s second largest source market, the Caribbean.
“… we are always very, very happy whenever there are activities such as this, because the benefits cannot be denied. We know that there is a lot of socio-economic benefits to be derived,” she noted.
Tickets cost $40 as part of the early bird specials and $60 later.
The 2019 Festival is set to run from October 21-27, culminating on the Frigate Bay Lawns.
