Togetherness wins Dr. Denzil Douglas 7-a-side Football Tournament

    Basseterre, St. Kitts  (September 4th, 2019) - The Old Recreation Ground in St. Paul’s came alive last Saturday (August 31st, 2019) afternoon for the 2019 Dr. Denzil L. Douglas 7-a-side Football Tournament. 

     

    The tournament organized by Constituency #6 Young Labour and Positive Youths St. Paul’s saw six (6) teams battle for supremacy. 

    The teams were Togetherness, Brave Hearts, Newton Ground, Dieppe Bay, Top Form, and Ghetto Limers. 

    The tournament commenced at 3:30 pm with the parliamentary representative for the area, the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, inspecting the teams. 

    Speaking to the teams, Douglas said “It’s always exciting to see young people, especially young men engaging in positive activities. The Capisterre/Constituency #6 area is full of talent and we must be proud.” 

    He added, “Let’s see these games not only as a competition but as an avenue for continued comradery among us.”

    After five rounds of intense football action the top two teams were Togetherness and Brave Hearts. 

    The final match brought much excitement. However, when the final whistle was blown it was Togetherness who was the winner. The team fought valiantly winning the game 2-1.

    A family fun day was also hosted on the day. There were lots of games and giveaways.
