BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DESPITE their successes in the two international friendly matches against Antigua and Barbuda, team St. Kitts and Nevis went down to Grenada in St. George’s.
Playing at the Kirani James Stadium on Thursday (Sept. 5), the hosts drew first blood off the boot of Kairo Mitchell in the 17th minute.
A valiant effort from the Sugar Boyz just before half time went abegging as Yohannes Mitchum’s strike was saved by the goalkeeper.
However, Tahir Hanley leveled the game in the 57th minute but a strike from 23-year-old Jamal Charles in the 82nd minute put the host over the line.
The Sugar Boyz will have to quickly regroup as they take on powerhouse French Guiana tonight (Sept. 7), the team that defeated them in March and prevented them from qualifying for the Gold Cup.
