DJ Smurf and surprise band on exciting line-up for ‘Val-T, We Love You’, a fundraiser at Club Kactus

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts- A fundraiser for local entrepreneur and radio personality, Valentine Thomas will be held at Club Kactus this Saturday, September 5.  DJ Smurf out of Jamaica is headlining the Club Kactus event.

The fundraiser is being held in association with Ghutside Promotions in St. Kitts as well as friends of Thomas.  Thomas, who is called ‘Val-T’ affectionately, needs monetary assistance for a kidney transplant.

According to the owner of Club Kactus, Romeo Parris, the event dubbed “Val-T, We Love You” will donate 100% of the gate receipts to Thomas, who has sponsored Club Kactus events in the past.

Parris told SKNVibes that he and Thomas had a falling out, but this was put aside when he heard Dwyer Astaphan and others mention his need for donations toward healthcare costs.  The Club Kactus owner said he decided to hold the fundraiser after visiting Val-T in the hospital and seeing the urgency of his condition.

Parris also said that he had intended to bring DJ Smurf originally to perform at the re-opening of his club.  However, Parris added that he decided to convert the event into a fundraiser for Val-T after the hospital visit.

The club owner and promoter said he is disappointed that companies he approached to pay the DJ’s decided not to come on board.

He expressed gratitude to Ghutside Promotions and the local artistes who will perform at the event this Saturday.

The event will start at 9:00p.m.  On the line-up alongside DJ Smurf are DJ Shaggy, TNO Sound, Chalice Sound, Culture Vibes Sound, R&B singer C-Jay and rap artistes I.T.Y.C. and S.M.I.

The audience also will be thrilled by a surprise live band.

Persons are being urged to come out in their numbers and support this worthy cause. The entrance fee is $25.00 or $30.00 after midnight.
