BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A probe has been launched into the arrival of 15 Haitian nationals in St. Kitts last evening (Oct. 20).
Media reports suggest that the vessel arrived at the Defence Force’s Coast Guard port in Bird Rock and the foreign nationals were apprehended and checking into a hotel in the said area.
Earlier today, police confirmed the arrival and stated that the 15 Haitians were taken into their custody around 6:00 p.m. yesterday.
Meanwhile, Chief Immigration Officer Merclyn Hughes confirmed that immigration is also looking into the incident.
The Immigration Chief noted that, in the meantime, they are looking for a safe place to house the 15 foreign nationals.
