BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - MICHAEL ‘MICKEY’ DAVIS, the wanted man who police had apprehended in the Saddler’s Village area on Tuesday (Oct. 22), was charged for the murder of 85-year-old Elva York of Upper Bourryeaux Extension.
According to a police press release, Davis was charge with the offence of Murder on Thursday (Oct. 24).
The 85-year-old was reportedly killed on Monday, June 17, 2019.
Police had reported that at about 6:30 p.m. on the day in question, a neighbour had contacted the police after attempts to contact York had failed.
Upon arrival at the elderly woman’s home, police had observed her motionless body lying on the kitchen floor.
This publication had however received reports that York was found bound on her kitchen floor, but this information was not confirmed by the police.
The District Medical Officer was summoned to the scene and, on examination of the body, pronounced her dead.
In a subsequent release, police stated that her death was being treated as a homicide, as an autopsy concluded that she died as a result of asphyxia due to manual strangulation.
The autopsy was performed on Sunday (Jun. 23) by Forensic Pathologist, Dr. Valery Alexandrov and police had informed that investigations into the matter were ongoing; hence the murder charge laid against the 29-year-old Davis.
