BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE are investigating an early morning fire that damaged the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party’s (SKNLP) Office in Constituency Number Four.
According to a press release, close to 5:00 a.m. yesterday (Oct. 28), police received a report of the fire and they immediately responded, along with
officers from the Sandy Point Fire and Rescue Services, who extinguished the flames.
Reportedly, the main interior office was extensively damaged.
KYSS FM has however reported that in some quarters the fire is believed to be politically driven.
The radio station also reported that during an exclusive interview with Clyde Wrensford, he stated that around 4:30 yesterday morning he was informed that his Constituency Office, located on the main road in Old Road, was being ravaged by fire.
Wrensford informed that the fire destroyed the ceiling of the entire building, as well as the windows, doors and all the contents, which included office furniture, political paraphernalia, and other items, on the inside.
“This fire has raised some alarms to the constituents and to Wrensford himself, who are of the view that the fire was a deliberate one and one driven by politics,” KYSS FM said..
The police are appealing to anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Old Road Police Station at 465-6250, the nearest police station or the Crime Hotline at 707.
