BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A male pedestrian is nursing injuries at the JNF General Hospital as a result of a traffic accident on Sunday (Oct. 27).

Police reported that the incident occurred close to 8:00 a.m. and involved a pedestrian named Tyrique Browne of St. Paul’s and motor jeep G150, which is owned by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, and was driven by Officer Marlon Raymond.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are that G150 was travelling from St. Paul's to Dieppe Bay along the road running through the White Gate area when a vehicle in front of it had stopped suddenly.

As a result, Officer Raymond lost control of the motor jeep and struck Browne, who was walking along the grass on the side of the road, and then ran into a tree.

Officer Raymond was taken to the Pogson Medical Centre and Browne to the JNF General Hospital.

Browne had sustained a number of injuries, including a broken arm and is warded in a stable condition, while Officer Raymond was treated for his injuries and discharged.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing, according to the police report.
