BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – STILL grappling with the throat-slashing incident that nearly claimed the life of a 13-year-old earlier in the week, the Federation is forced to deal with the murder of another of its young men.

Deceased is 19-year-old Chavez Henry of Shadwell Estate, and according to a police statement, his death occurred around 12:00 a.m. today (Sept. 3) as the result of a shooting incident that occurred in the McKnight area.

Police information indicates that at approximately 9:50 p.m. (Sept. 2), police officials received a report of a shooting at Durant Avenue to which they responded.

“Investigations revealed that 19-year-old Chavez Henry of Shadwell Estate was sitting on a step in the company of another male, when an armed mask man came from an alley and opened fire on him, injuring him multiple times in the front portion of his body.”

The wounded man was transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital where, according to police, he lost the fight for his life at about midnight “while undergoing surgery”.

Public Relations Officer for the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force Inspector Cromwell Henry told SKNVibes that no one has been held for questioning, no arrests have been made and there are currently no suspects.

The press release informs that investigations are ongoing and that “the Police are soliciting the assistance of the public in providing any information which my lead to the arrest of a suspect in this investigation.  Persons with information can call the Criminal Investigation Department at telephone number 465-2241 ext 230 or 231”.
