Win impressive prizes in Kantours’ Cruise Essay Competition

By: VonDez Phipps, SKNVibes
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Kantours Travel invites the general public to participate in its first ever Cruise Essay Competition, which is designed to raise public awareness on the convenience of cruise vacations.

Kantours Manager Jasemin Warner-Weekes explained that during the month of September the company will launch a number of initiatives designed to sensitise the public as to what Kantours offers. She informed that great emphasis will be placed on cruising as the company recognizes the numerous benefits to be engendered through this.

“We are known traditionally for our airline services, [but] through this initiative we want to raise awareness on the other services we provide. This month, we are placing focus on cruising, which is the increasingly popular way of travelling for leisure and business,” she said.

Essays for the contest are to be centred on the topic ‘Why is a cruise the best vacation option?’, and all entries must be type-written in 800 words or less. All submissions must reach the Kantours Travel Office on Liverpool Row on or before September 14. Participants are therefore encouraged to submit entries as soon as possible.

Entries will be judged in two age categories: ages 12-16 and 17 years and older. According to the organizers, winners stand to take home “very attractive prizes”. The first place winners will receive a free Caribbean cruise in 2010, second place winners will receive a return trip to a Caribbean island and the third place winners will get a tour and lunch onboard a cruise line.

“We really want people to understand that they get good value for their money and we are committed to dispel the misconception that cruises are expensive,” Warner-Weekes said of the special promotion.

She added that the essay competition is ideal for their promotion, as it would allow participants to do in-depth research on cruise tourism while, at the same time, developing communication skills.
