BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DRESSED in a number of haute couture pieces and shot by famed fashion photographer Steven Klein, the ‘Umbrella’ singer Rihanna is featured on the cover of Italian Vogue.
The cover is said to be inspired by Grace Jones, the edgy, unconventionally beautiful Jamaican-American actress, model, and singer who lit up the screen in films such as ‘Conan the Destroyer’ with Arnold Schwarzenegger and ‘Boomerang’ with Eddie Murphy.
Rihanna, the Barbadian beauty wears a structural feathered Valentino gown and patent knee-high boots, and throws a bucket of water at the camera, according to www.myfashionlife.com
The fashion site also stated that the pictorials inside Italian Vogue are ‘daring’. In the magazine, Rihanna dons skimpy pants, and on top…nothing but glitter.
Other images show her in a Madonna-style conical bra, as well as a sharp-shouldered jacket paired with just lace knickers, suspenders, and boots.
Rihanna’s hair also dazzles in the pictures. It is sculpted into a range of high forelocks and cones, and teamed with dramatic dark eye make-up and deep red lips.
Steven Klein shot most of the photographs in black and white. There is a lone colour photograph of her in a turquoise dress and boots.
Klein has also photographed style icons Britney Spears and Madonna for other high-profile shoots.
The singer, who collaborated with Jay-Z on his latest single “Run This Town” and appeared in the music video, is said to have looked tough for the pictorial à la Grace Jones, according to Caribbean News Daily online.
