Courts National Reading Competition Celebrates Ten Years!

    Monday 18th, November 2019 -- The finals of the 10th Courts Annual National Reading Competition was held on November 13th, 2019 at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort Conference Room. The competition was done in collaboration with the Ministry of Education started in 2009 promoting literacy in a fun filled way to encourage reading in primary schools within the structure of an exciting healthy school’s competition. 

     

    The Courts National Reading Competition for the past ten years has been focused on building future generations through literacy. The competition judge’s critical competencies which include fluency, accuracy, enunciation, smoothness and expression as well as the competitors’ confidence and ease of reading.

    This year’s finals had five finalists, one from each school district. The top readers were awarded as below:
     
    - 1st Place winner, Rondre Daniel from the Maude Crosse Preparatory Primary School received One Thousand, Five Hundred dollars from Courts, a trophy from Warner’s One Stop, gift vouchers from Harper’s Office Depot and First Caribbean Bank as well as complimentary data service from Flow.
     
    - 2nd Place, Rainier Martin from the Immaculate Conception Catholic School received seven hundred and fifty dollars from Courts, a trophy from Warner’s One Stop, gift vouchers from Harper’s Office Depot and First Caribbean Bank as well as complimentary data service from Flow.
     
    - 3rd Place Khaleed Warner from the Elizabeth Pemberton Primary received five hundred dollars from Courts, a trophy from Warner’s One Stop, gift vouchers from Harper’s Office Depot and First Caribbean Bank as well as complimentary data service from Flow.
    All participants were given trophies from Warner’s One Stop and gift vouchers from Harper’s Office Depot and First Caribbean Bank as well as complimentary data service from Flow.
     
    The winning school received One Thousand dollars from Courts.
     
    Rondre Daniel now moves on to represent St. Kitts in the OECS finals in February 2020.
     
    The Courts National Reading Competition is one of many Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives from Courts, a brand of the Unicomer Group.
