BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IN continuation of their quest to make St. Kitts and Nevis a safer place to live and visit, the police have removed yet another illegal firearm and a quantity of ammunition of the Federation's streets.
A police communiqué has informed that 30-year-old Daryl Tross of Bird Rock was on Sunday (Nov. 17) arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.
It stated that on Friday (Nov. 15) Tross was stopped and searched by officers on patrol on the Bay Road in downtown Basseterre.
As a result, a .22 revolver with six matching rounds of ammunition were found in his backpack.
Tross, along with the firearm and ammunition, was taken into custody.
This find brings to 44 the number of firearms taken off the streets of the Federation for the year. Thirty of them were handed in to the police by gang members in August through a third party and 13 were seized during a number of operations.
