BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, November 25, 2019 (PLP PR Media Inc.) -- Prime Minister and Area Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher Seven, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, on Saturday November 23 at a worship service held at the Molineux Seventh Day Adventist Church gave thanks to God for the 26 years he has served the constituency and the country and pledged to advance the good life of all the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.

“As I reflect the 26-year journey of service to the people of St. Christopher Seven, and the people of St. Kitts and Nevis in general, I say to God we give all the glory and thanks,” said Prime Minister Harris when asked by Pastor Linden Elliott to give remarks and greet the congregation.

The church service was part of activities held to mark the 26th anniversary of Dr Harris’ service as a parliamentarian, having been first elected as the Area Parliamentary Representative for Constituency Number Seven (Bellevue to Ottley’s Village) on November 29, 1993. Activities to mark the anniversary started on Friday November 22 with a community walkthrough in Mansion Village.

“We are happy that you have taken time off, Hon Dr Timothy Harris, from your busy schedule of the Cabinet meetings and so on and so on - everybody vying for your attention, but I am happy that you are here and you are giving your attention to Almighty God - the Almighty One,” said Pastor Linden Elliott.

The Pastor remarked: “26 years of parliamentary representation: So you have been there a long time. Congratulations - may God bless you as you continue to lead this great country so that one day, with your leadership and all of us, we will make it to Heaven. God bless you and have a wonderful day.”

In response, Prime Minister Harris told the congregation that in the period he has served the people both as a parliamentarian and as a prime minister, there were many days in the valley and many days in the high and that through it all he had learnt to trust in Jesus and had learnt to trust in God. For the journey travelled, he said the day (Saturday November 23) was a day of thankfulness, reflection, retrospection and inspection.

“I pledge to use every waking moment I can to advance the good life of all the people of St. Kitts and Nevis,” said Prime Minister Harris. “I believe I have been given a special opportunity to serve the country for such a time like this one in our history as the country’s third Prime Minister.”

Prime Minister Harris thanked the Molineux Seventh Day Adventist saying it was a church he always admired for the way in which it has always mobilised young people, and the good effort it has made to display young peoples’ tenacity to be the instrument of peace. The service was led by members of the Phillips/Molineux Warriors for Christ Adventurers Club whose ages range from three to nine years.

Accompanying Prime Minister Harris to the church service included the Minister of Agriculture the Hon Eugene Hamilton, Minister of Public Infrastructure the Hon Ian Patches Liburd, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Senator the Hon Akilah Byron-Nisbett, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security Mr Osmond Petty, and Press Secretary Ms Valencia Grant.

Prime Minister Harris, who is also the National Political Leader of the Peoples Labour Party (PLP), one of the three parties in the ruling Team Unity Administration, was also accompanied by party’s officials who included the National Chairman Mr Warren Thompson, National Secretary Ms Myrtilla Williams, National Party Organiser Mr Alexis Nisbett, National Women’s Arm Representative Mrs Sonia Henry, and members of PLP Constituency Number Seven Group and others from the various PLP branch executives.
